Cotlyn Snider

BScN, Registered Nurse

I am so happy you are here! My name is Coty and I am the founder of #The Nurses Station#. I am a Registered Nurse with over 20 years of experience in Waterloo Region. I am here to help!

Professional Experience

My journey began with a volunteer placement in a local Long Term Care facility at age 16. This (at the time unwanted) opportunity opened a door for me to witness the human condition, in all its beauty and pain. This was the beginning of my journey to becoming a Nurse, an advocate and an ally. 23 years later, I have extensive nursing experience (and many additional certifications) in home, community and public health for all ages.

I have experience & expertise working with persons who face health and system barriers due to age, health, mental health, cognitive challenges, substance use challenges, disability (physical, developmental), race/ethnicity, language, culture, gender, sexual orientation and more….

The Personal Stuff

I was born in Kitchener and have been here for the majority of my life. I love Waterloo Region, I love our community! I am a proud biracial woman and was born to a young Mom, who made the decision to give me more. At 3, I was adopted by a beautiful and committed family and I am fortunate to have both biological and adoptive family in my life. It has been a (sometimes painful) journey and has given me a unique perspective which, I believe, helps in my nursing practice. Today, I am ‘Mom’ to beautiful humans who inspire me daily. When neurodiversity came knocking on my door in 2013, I was not prepared. The inequities and barriers were enormous. They still are. I’ve spent these years facing these barriers head on, while developing the knowledge and professional skills needed to become a strong advocate and resource to others.

I welcome you to my heart-project ##The Nurses Station##
